About our camp

“To help boys grow into young men of strong moral character” – here is the ultimate goal of Camp Takajo, founded in 1947. During the seven weeks of stay in this summer camp, boys learn to set and accomplish goals, to develop independence and confidence. The duration of the camp is not accidental – the staff at Takajo aims to provide a relaxed atmosphere for boys to hone their skills, make new friends and take joy in the sense of belonging.

The camp operates in three divisions - Warrior Camp (ages 7-10), Junior Camp (ages 11-12) and Senior Camp (ages 13-15). This helps create age appropriate schedules and provide relevant instruction during each activity. Cabins house boys based on the same criterion which ensures smooth, pleasurable, and stress-free camp experience.

Camp programs & activities

Camp Takajo makes sure boys explore as many new activities as possible so that they can find the one closest to their heart and abilities. Everyday activities include hiking and camping trips, hobbies and skills, athletics, and waterfront. Boys in the senior group enjoy Specialty Camps, having the chance to receive thorough trainings in their favorite activity. Special events are also frequent to encourage boys to socialize and have fun – the Carnival, the 4th of July Assembly, fireworks, talent shows are some of the highlights on the camp schedule.
