About our camp
Lantern Creek is an all-girl camp focused on performing and visual arts to enhance self-confidence and creative thinking in girls aged 7-17. Located in Texas Piney Woods, it is 55 miles away from Houston. Each year the camp chooses a general theme to be reflected in all of the activities they do. The current theme is inspired by Ghandi - Be the difference. Some past themes include “Love who you are”, “Speak up”, “Sheroes”, “BeYoutiful”, etc.
While being at the camp, everyone is required to have health insurance coverage. Although the camp has a registered nurse, if a camper needs an off-camp medical assistance, parents are responsible for all the charges.
Camp Lantern Creek promotes healthy eating and offers diverse food with vegetarian options at each meal. Though campers are encouraged to try new things, allergies and aversions to certain meals and ingredients are taken into consideration.
No electronic devices are allowed during the camp stay; having said that, camp directors are available to update parents on their children at the requested moment.
Camp programs & activities
Girls participate in various activities to learn new skills and master existing ones. Sewing, knitting, drawing and painting, singing, dancing, discussion class, drama, stage crew classes, and, of course, team sports, such as basketball, volleyball, gaga, are the popular ones campers can enjoy.
A 4-year leadership program is also offered. The program has four levels, designed for campers who are in their 9th to 12th grades.
Moms have a great chance to leave everyday chores and take part in the mother-daughter weekend with their future camper. Some of the highlights of this program are the talent show, canoeing, mom-daughter bonding activities, and a Sunday pajama breakfast.
