About our camp
The brightest star in the summer sky is called Vega, and here is where Camp Vega’s name comes from. Their motto reveals their core value: “The most exciting thing a girl will find at Camp Vega is herself”. Girls are taught to believe in themselves, build unity, live with integrity, choose gratitude and have empathy. By focusing on these ideals, the staff at Camp Vega helps girls to find their true self.
Founded more than 80 years ago, this camp is located on the shores of Echo Lake, the state of Maine.
Everyone eats together at Camp Vega sitting at assigned tables that change weekly. Food is served buffet-style, allowing girls eat as much as they would love to. Apart from breakfast, lunch and dinner, there are three snacks every day. Food allergies and dietary restrictions are handled at the camp to meet special needs of each camper.
Camp programs & activities
The staff at Camp Vega encourages parents to submit their child’s preferences before the camp starts, and the individualized schedules are ready by the time girls arrive at the campsite. However, campers are free to try and experience any other activities they will be interested in while being in the camp. The list to choose from is extensive: gymnastics, athletic program, onsite equestrian instruction, performing arts, and waterfront activities.
A raspberry picking trip, day and overnight hikes, 4th of July celebration and a summer Halloween are among the special events girls can enjoy at Camp Vega.
